Motel 6 Southgate, MI - Detroit

This is the friendliest atmosphere I have ever experienced as an extended stay guest. The owners are really doing a fantastic job on renovating and also restoring this motels reputation. Staff, specifically Rachel, Brittany and John go out of their way on a daily basis to accommodate us and the cleaning staff is amazing! We truly appreciate you all I highly recommend this place for a clean, comfortable stay with very reasonable rates.

Had a late check in after my flight was delayed for 8 hours and the front desk was very understanding and accommodating. Room was ready and clean when I stepped in. Close to a lot of restaurants and shops. Love the efficiency and convenience of this hotel.

Stayed here with my family of four for the first time and was genuinely impressed. The rooms are brand new and super clean. The kitchenette was perfect to prepare some small meals in between eating out. My kids enjoyed the pool also. The staff at the front desk is friendly and responsive, especially the young man named John. Location is easy to get to from the airport and easy access downtown. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

I stayed here on a business trip and the rooms were well equipped and clean. I could tell they had recently been renovated. Perfect for a short stay!

John was amazing. He was super polite and great attitude. He upgraded our room because online it didn't register that the room was already rented. The studio rooms are super cute

I had a great stay at the Motel 6 in Southgate. The staff here truly stood out—they were welcoming, helpful, and went out of their way to make check-in and check-out smooth and easy. It’s also hard to beat the location: you’re just a quick drive from downtown Detroit, but you don’t have to pay downtown prices to be comfortable. The room was clean, the atmosphere was relaxed, and overall it felt like solid value for the money. The only thing worth mentioning is the parking—right now it’s being redone, so it can feel a little tight. But it’s clearly being improved, and once that’s wrapped up, it’ll make the experience even better. If you’re looking for a convenient, budget-friendly spot close to the city with genuinely friendly staff, this Motel 6 is a great choice. I would stay again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We stayed here with our kids and were pleasantly surprised. The property looks brand new—clearly a lot of work has gone into the updates. The staff under the new management were polite and attentive, which made check-in easy. The rooms were spotless, the beds cozy, and the overall feel was safe and modern. A huge upgrade from the old style. Highly recommend for families traveling through!

Driving to Detroit for the first time in years to visit some family and friends in the area. I wanted something that was close to Downtown Detroit with out having to pay those downtown prices. And man, this place came through in the clutch, it is literally the first hotel off the I-75 exit both ways! I was a little worried about it being a motel, seeing as they finished remodeling it completely, it felt like staying in a brand new place! I loved the location, being right off the interstate, and being brand new with incredibly friendly staff. Next time I drive here from Maine, I am definitely staying here.
